The new GORE-TEX PRO FISHING KIT


When we set out to build the new Grundéns GORE-TEX® PRO Fishing Jacket and Bib, the objective was clear: build our most advanced foul-weather fishing system using the best materials and technologies available to us.

At the heart of it is the latest generation of GORE-TEX® PRO, featuring Gore's new expanded polyethylene (ePE) membrane. Around that, we've engineered a jacket and bib specifically for the movement, exposure and punishment that come with serious fishing.


Next-generation GORE-TEX PRO

GORE-TEX PRO is engineered for extremely rugged use while remaining durably waterproof, totally windproof and reliably breathable. The latest generation achieves this with a three-layer construction built around Gore's new ePE membrane.

The outer face uses a PFAS-free DWR treatment* to help water bead and shed from the surface. At the centre, the thin, lightweight ePE membrane creates the waterproof and windproof barrier while allowing moisture vapour to escape.

Inside sits Gore's solution-dyed MICRO-GRID® backer. Made from lightweight nylon, it slides easily over layers for better freedom of movement, while the inner and outer textiles are engineered to resist snagging and abrasion.

That combination is particularly relevant for fishing. A shell spends its life rubbing against gunwales, seats and equipment, kneeling on decks and moving around hardware — often while being exposed to wind, spray and rain for hours at a time.


Built around how anglers move

Starting with GORE-TEX PRO gave us the technical foundation. The next job was turning it into a fishing system.

The articulated pattern is designed to give unrestricted movement through casting, driving, kneeling and working around the boat. A drop hood with a high protective collar creates shelter from wind and driving rain, while neoprene cuffs help close one of the areas where water most often finds its way into a fishing jacket.

Large storage pockets keep essential gear accessible, with dedicated hand-warmer pockets for cold conditions. We've even added a shop patch on the sleeve, making it easy for guides, teams, shops and crews to customize the jacket.

These aren't features added to make a specification sheet longer. They're there because they solve problems we encounter on the water.


Storm-tested by GORE-TEX

The material science is backed by an equally serious testing protocol.

Gore puts GORE-TEX products through stringent laboratory testing, and for next-generation GORE-TEX PRO it enhanced those tests specifically to simulate extreme environments.

In Gore's Rain Room, a moving mannequin is subjected to water from multiple directions at a rate equivalent to 55 cm of rainfall per hour. Gore then combines its laboratory work with rigorous field testing and feedback from athletes and brand partners.

More than half a metre of rain in an hour is well beyond what we expect anyone to voluntarily fish in. But that's exactly the point of testing equipment beyond normal conditions: it gives us confidence in the system when the weather on the water becomes anything but normal.


Why all this technology matters

There is a lot happening inside what, from the outside, looks like a jacket and bib.

A thin ePE membrane manages the difficult balance between keeping external water out and allowing internal moisture vapour to escape. The three-layer construction protects that membrane against hard use. The MICRO-GRID backer adds durability without compromising movement. The PFAS-free* DWR helps the outer face shed water. The articulated construction lets the entire system move with the angler, while the hood, collar and cuffs protect the areas most exposed to wind, rain and spray.

And the complete system is backed by one of the toughest testing protocols in waterproof outerwear.

For the angler, all of that technology has a straightforward purpose: to stay dry, comfortable and protected for longer when conditions turn against you.

That's what we wanted from our most advanced fishing system; the performance of next-generation GORE-TEX PRO, engineered into a jacket and bib built specifically for life on the water.
