HOW-TO GUIDE FOR WADER CARE AND REPAIR

Taking care of your waders and making timely repairs can significantly extend their lifespan while maintaining their waterproof and breathable qualities. Follow this step-by-step guide to keep your waders in top condition.

Step 1: Pre-Cleaning Prep
• Fully close all zippers, including pockets and pit zips.
• Fasten loose flaps, Velcro straps, and suspenders to prevent damage.

Step 2: Cleaning
• Hand or Machine Wash: Use cold water (below 86°F/30°C) and a mild detergent or technical cleaner. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh detergents.
• Rinse Thoroughly: Ensure all soap residues are removed to prevent dirt buildup and loss of breathability.

Step 3: Drying
• Hang by the suspenders in a well-ventilated area, away from sunlight and heat.
• Dry inside out first, then turn them right-side out to finish drying. Avoid dryers and direct heat sources.

Step 4: Storing
• Make sure they are fully dry to prevent mold. Store in a cool, dry place, hanging by the boots or suspenders.
• Use a garment bag if storing long-term, and avoid tight folds.

Step 5: Repairing Leaks and Tears
• Locate Leaks: Use water or rubbing alcohol to find small holes, then mark them.
• Repair: Clean the area, apply wader repair adhesive or a patch, and let it cure for 8-12 hours.
• Seam Sealing: Turn the waders inside out and apply seam sealer to leaking seams.

Step 6: Reapplying Durable Water Repellent (DWR)
• Restore the DWR coating by spraying or washing in a DWR treatment.
• Reactivate it by tumble drying on low or ironing with a cloth barrier, if allowed.

Step 7: General Maintenance Tips
• Avoid prolonged sun exposure, as UV rays can degrade materials.
• Use protective mats for neoprene feet, inspect regularly for damage, and lubricate zippers to prevent rust.

By following these steps, you can ensure your waders stay waterproof, breathable, and functional for years to come.
